Surgery/Procedure Information

Drop off is between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. the morning of surgery.

Please no food after 9:00 p.m. the night before, but water is fine.

Pick-up is between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. the evening of surgery for spays, neuters and dental procedures. You will be instructed on pick-up time for additional procedures and surgeries.

The morning of surgery, you will sign a consent discussing the following:

Pre-Anesthetic Blood Panel

This requires a small blood sample that is used to test for any abnormalities in vital organ function that are undetectable with a physical examination. This procedure is highly recommended by our veterinarians to ensure the safest possible surgery for your pet.

Required Pre-Anesthetic Blood Panels

  • For pets older than 9 years of age, a pre-anesthetic blood panel is required.

  • For dogs 11 years of age or older, a Chemistry 17, electrolytes and PCV is required as the pre-anesthetic blood panel.

  • For cats 10 years of age or older, a T4 is required in addition to the pre-anesthetic blood panel.

An ECG will be mandatory on a case by case basis.

Retained Juvenile Teeth

During the pre-operative examination our veterinarians often discover baby teeth retained in the mouth of dogs and cats. They can cause future problems if retained. It is in the best interest of your pet to have these teeth removed while under anesthesia for his/her surgery. The cost of this procedure is approximately $15-$30 per tooth.

Micro Chip

A HomeAgain microchip can be implanted and registered. If you opt for this please confirm your address and phone number with staff.
