Lyme Disease Prevention

Preventing Lyme Disease and other tickborne illnesses:

1. Vaccinate for Lyme annually

2. Use tick/flea preventative monthly (we carry NexGard and Frontline Gold)

3. Check your dog for ticks often, and remove the tick with tweezers, trying to remove the tick's head if embedded (especially after walks or hikes)

4. Test for tickborne illnesses (and heartworm) annually

Microchipping

We encourage all pets to be microchipped.  Implanting a HomeAgain microchip is safe, relatively painless and can be performed in the office.  Microchipped pets are far more likely to be recovered if lost than those not microchipped.  Microchipped pets that are registered with HomeAgain have special services such as pet Amber alerts, lost pet posters/flyers, and access to poison control services.  In addition, the State of Pennsylvania allows owners of microchipped dogs to apply for a permanent dog license and only pay once in the pet's life.  Contact us to perform this procedure.
